The Instrument

Here in the office we use Activator instruments to adjust. This tool contains a spring mechanism and allows us to focus our adjustments to a specific spinal segment rather than a large region. There are 5 variations of the tool, with the Activator II and Activator V being the most commonly used in our office. The Activator V uses a battery power solenoid to produce thrust, see our blog post about it here! The Activator tools are the only FDA approved handheld adjusting instruments.

The Method

The Activator Method is a series of leg length checks used to determine levels of spinal subluxation or joint restriction in your body. It was developed by Dr. Arlan Fuhr in 1967 as a method to reduce strain on the chiropractors hands and body. It is the world’s most widely used instrument adjusting chiropractic technique and is currently in use by more than 70 percent of all chiropractors. Endorsed throughout the chiropractic field, the Activator Method is taught in nearly every college in the United States and abroad, as well as in professional seminars throughout the year.
